Silicone rubber molds are perfect to reproduce an object in the smallest details: its high elasticity, makes it adaptable to every reproduction requirement. By adding a specific catalyst, this substance hardens at room temperature creating a stable and irreversible rubber with considerable mechanical resistance. Its properties also include a remarkable resistance to temperature; characteristics remain unaltered up to over +250°C, while elasticity is maintained(even at -150°C), as well as resistance to chemical attacks, oxidation and ozone.
As far as sculpture is concerned, silicone rubber molds, can be used to make casts from original models from various materials, such as plaster, wood, concrete, marble or resin.
