From the Bible, “Memento homo, quia pulvis es et in pulverem reverteris” (Genesis 3,19), “Remember man, dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return”: I wanted to recreate a body whose muscles tear and return to dust by molding themselves into the rock.
The message is an invitation to remind men to be humble and to remember that they are not omnipotent: this is only a passing life and material objects, including our own body, will vanish. What makes us men is not the wars or battles won on this Earth but our spirituality.
